World Keeps Humor in 2008 Despite Economic Woes

People the world over kept their sense of humor in 2008 despite the global crisis. The world was full of wonderful, weird and silly stories during the financial upheaval.

One off-beat story tells that the Sarah’s Smash Shack, a restaurant in San Diego, California, charges $10.00 for fifteen minutes of pleasure pulverizing dinnerware against a wall.

“It was the best $50.00 we have spent in the last two years,” said an insurance broker who smashed plates with his wife in San Diego after his home mortgage was rejected.

Another unusual tale is about a brewery in Canada that created a special “bitter ale for bitter times” which they called the “Bailout Bitter” beer.  The disappointingly unsuccessful individuals drank this beer to relieve their frustration.

A jeweler in Tokyo kept busy selling 13-piece tableware sets made of gold for $1 million aimed at the newly rich Chinese customers.

A bank in Kazakhstan offered a diamond-encrusted credit card for well-heeled clients with income over $300,000.

Narrated above are but a few of the many whacky but humorous events or activities that people worldwide engaged in to instill humor  in themselves.
