UP Singing Ambassadors(UPSA) Win Awards/Fame in Europe

The University of the Philippines Singing Ambassadors bagged two grand prizes, seven first prizes and three third prizes from different  choral competions in France, Spain, Czech Republic and Italy. After winning the awards, they held a two-day concert in Verviers and Leige, two provinces in Belgium to conclude their successful fifth European tour.

The performance of the multi-awarded group drew praise and appreciation from their European audience.

Victor Penay, a Belgian, watched the concert and he liked the group so much. He was enthralled by  the group’s enchanting voice.

Another European, Eric Humblet, could not believe that the singing ambassadors could sing in various European languages. They sang in Italian, Dutch and French without mistakes.

Some of the listeners were from Luxemourg and Germany. The audience was amazed when the UPSA sang Kalesa, Galawgaw and Joyful. But the choirs rendition of The Prayer, This is the Moment, You Brought Me Up and Dahil Sa Iyo captured everyone’s heart.

With this, the Filipinos extolled the country’s premier choir with pride and admiration.

Ed Manguiat, founder and conductor of the UPSA thanked La Cigalle, Belgium’s local choir for joining them in their concert. Besides, he acknowleged heartily his debt of gratitude to the Filipino communities in various parts of the globe for their help and support they accorded to the UPSA.
