Now that summer time is on the horizon, the prevailing mode is to leave home and see different places. Traveling is a favorite activity  and hobby that many people enjoy for they are able to explore far-away lands and visit beautiful tourist destinations. To make the most of your adventure whether it may be by air, by land or by water, be sure that you are properly prepared for your trip. ArcaMax Travel gives the following suggestions.

 1. Triple check your name on your ticket. See to it that your name on your ticket and that on your ID or passport that you will present as your identification are the same. If not, you may be grounded,  you may be charged $100 for correcting the name on your ticket or you may be asked to buy another ticket.

2. Packing tips for your vacation

    a. Pack only the clothes that you love; never those that have been hanging in your closet for months and have not been worn. Stick with what you love and you will travel light. You will use all that you have with you. See to it, too, that you have comfortable footwear.

    b. To avoid wrinkles, try rolling your clothes instead of folding them.

    c. Don’t forget your prescription drugs if you have any. Likewise, keep a list of those drugs with you during your travel so they will be handy just in case you will need it. Some medical supplies for unforseen circumstances may be added: a first aid kit, aspirin, diarrehea tablets, laxative, insect repellant, alcohol wipes, antibiotic ointment.

    d. Keep your valuables always with you.

    e. Include a few maintenance items in your packing, to wit: a flashlight, batteries for your camera, a sewing kit, laundry soap packets and a laundry bag. If you do not have a separate toiletry bag, you can store the following essentials in a sturdy zip-loc bag: comb, brush, toothbrush, toothpaste, dental floss, shampoo, deodorant, lotion, cream and shaving cream.

4. Language barriers, unfamiliar surroudings and cultural differences mark tourists as easy prey for travel scams. Whether you are going overseas, to your nearby country or just to the next city, acquiring knowledge of the details of various travel scams will surely be of great help.

     a. No-gas scam - When somebody asks you for gas, make him an offer that you will accompany him to the gas station. Most likely, he will make an excuse and disappear.

     b. Money changing scam - Before departing from your homeland, go to your local bank and exchaange the necessary amount there. You should also know the current exchange rate for the currency that the country you are visiting uses. Most money changers take a big interest from you.

      c. Taxi cab scam - Make yourself aware of the overcharges being made by a taxi cab driver. If you are visiting a distant country for the first time, chances are the taxi driver will charge you a higher amount, have the taximeter tampered or drive a few miles in circle.

Wherever you go, don’t forget to respect the locals and their customs, traditions and/or culture.
