Celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the Cavinti Fiesta in North America, the spirit and energy in the GTA Cavinti community are more vibrant this year. Initiated by homesick Cavintinians as a simple picnic at Marie Curtis Park by Lake Ontario 30 years ago, Toronto has continued evolving into a mecca for fiesta revelers and devotees to our Patron, San Salvador del Mundo abroad.
Over the years the fiesta has never ceased to attract hundreds of Kababayans from as far as the Middle East and Europe; from California, to the American Midwest and to the East Coast of continental USA; Canada wide from Vancouver, Saskatchewan, to the Prairies, and across the Newfoundland Island; and quite a number from our hometown Cavinti as well.
Day 1 Friday, July 30 – BESPIRAS:
This year’s fiesta festivities kicked off Friday, July 30th with the traditional Bespiras hosted by the current chairman, Adan Vita and his affable wife, Florie. Out of town guests started arriving as early as Thursday, July 28th, and what is more hearts warming than to greet visitors with a cordial, very typical Cavinti welcome “Oy kumusta, tuloy, tuloy kayo”. (Oh, how are you, welcome, welcome, please come in).
