The Sad Son Who Left His Father’s House
Luke 15: 11 – 24
National family Week takes place on the week of Thanksgiving, November 23 – 28, this year. Families play an important role in our society. Hence, the publication of some articles related to families.
Here I sit in a pigpen, feeding these hungry pigs.
They’re grunting happily as they gobble up the corn husks, but I’m not happy. I’m so hungry I could eat this food pig myself!
I wish I were back in my father’s house! Why did I ever leave home?
I asked my father to give me my share of the money, and he did. But the money is all gone now. I wasted it on wild and wicked things. Now I’m here in this pigpen, sad and hungry, remembering all the good food in my father’s house. Even his servants had plenty to eat.
I know what I’ll do! I’ll return home. I’ll ask my father to hire me as one of his servants. I’ve done so many wrong things, I’m no longer worthy to be his son.
The way is long and weary, but I’m almost home. What do I see down the road? He’s my father!
He is running to meet me! He’s welcoming me back home! He is kissing me and placing a robe on me and shoes on my feet and a ring on my hand!
My father still loves me! He has been watching and waiting for me ever since I went away.
I’ve told him that I have sinned and am no longer worthy to be called his son, but he has forgiven me! He is planning a great feast for me tonight.
“Everyone, come!” he shouts. “My son was gone, but now he’s back home again! Come and rejoice with me!”
What a wonderful father I have!
Did the father ever stop loving his son, even when he was doing wicked things? Did the father forgive his son when he returned home? Does God always love us and forgive us when we are sorry for our sins?
