Star ng Pasko; Salamat Sa Liwanag Mo

parolI know you will enjoy this – very touching and inspiring – tunay na Pilipino!!!

“STAR NG PASKO, SALAMAT SA LIWANAG MO”

This is a 2009 Christmas greeting from the Philippines, produced by CCM/ABS/CBN. It is wonderful to see that the musical Filipinos can still smile, sing and remember to give thanks (by way of this new song), in spite of what the country is going through.

There are certainly no “whiners” in the Philippines, so resilient and forever grateful for whatever comes their way in times of distress. The Filipinos do not feel sorry for themselves because of their hope and their beliefs.

Please note the “balikbayan box” in one of the screen frames, and see the smiles of gratitude on faces. This is to thank YOU to all of you who volunteered, sent monetary & inkind donations, and all those “balikbayan” boxes from Canada, USA & Australia . This “salamat” belongs to ALL of you ! Spread the appreciation to all.- and enjoy:
“Star Ng Pasko – Salamat sa Liwanag Mo”
( Star of Christmas – Thank you for your Brightness )

Composer: Marcus Davis // Lyrics by: Robert Labayan
Lead Singer: Sarah Geronimo
Produced by: CCM/ABS/CBN

Words are beautiful, and I attempted to translate some of the lines for you. Of course it is difficult to put the exact Tagalog sentiments into English…but below are some of the translated lines for those who may be interested.

For the US / Australia / Canada / Germany born relatives, here is a rough translation of SOME of the lines, from Tagalog (Filipino) to English (am not too good at it but it’s a try)

Star Ng Pasko, Salamat Sa Liwanag Mo (Christmas Star, Thank you for your Brightness )

Whenever it seems so dark for us,
The stars shine even more brightly
Whatever the color, that brightness is in all of us:
In the warmth of an embrace
All wounds can be healed
The lighting behind this brilliance is all because of you
Thanks for your brightness,
Christmas can be colorful again
We are the light in the dark –
this brilliance is all of us lighting this Star.
