West Covina, California couple Sonny and Cita Belleza joined the thousands of families taking their spring break and traveled to Emerald Cove in Parker, Arizona on April 4 – 6, 2008, trekking the 250 miles between the two states in their RV.

Short for ‘Recreational Vehicle’, the RV is also part of the American pop culture, an extension of America’s continuing romance with the car. A term that originated in North America, ‘Recreational Vehicle’ and its acronym RV are generally used to refer to an enclosed piece of equipment dually used as both a vehicle and a temporary travel home.

The notion of being able to travel at whim to different parts of the U.S. (in fact, the whole of North America) is a very big part of the American psyche to the point that it could be traced way back in the 1800s, the century that the American West was won.

Cita and Sonny, together with Dondick Jaico, Cita’s nephew, gave in to the 200-year old American tradition and drove five hours going east to reach Parker, Arizona. And as always, half the fun of the trip is getting there.

From the busy freeways of Southern California to the lonely Interstate and state highways, there is never a dull moment in the changing scenery. Reaching Emerald Cove, the trio chose an RV/motorhome park for the weekend.

With their ‘home away from home’ secured, Sonny, Cita and Dondick visited Lake Havasu City, which is 30 miles away from the Emerald Cove Resort.

They saw the London Bridge that was bought by Robert McCulloch, the founder of Lake Havasu City, from the British government in 1962 and reconstructed in the city he founded. Today, the London Bridge is a significant landmark and a famous tourist destination.
