Sheila Ludeke Turns 21

DALLAS, Jun 28, 2009 / — A second generation Filipino diaspora, Sheila Ludeke was born and raised in Texas. Yesterday, she turned 21 and celebrated among close friends and the Filipino community in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Still in college, Sheila is also running for Miss Philippine Texas with the Pageant finals slated on July 18, 2009 at the Dallas Women’s Museum at Fair Park here in Dallas.
Funded in part by the City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs, Tarrant County Asian American Chamber of Commerce, International Multi-Ethnic Chamber of Commerce and businesses in the DFW area plus philanthropic individuals, Miss Philippine Texas is a project of the Maharlika Dancers USA Inc.
The winner of the Miss Philippine Texas pageant gets a college scholarship and a chance to run on the national pageant wherein the grand prize is also a college scholarship.
Back to the birthday party…
A typical Filipino gathering, the number of young people is the same as the ‘older’ group, though the celebrant is turning 21. In Philippine culture, a birthday party, no matter at what age involves the whole community. So, for Sheila to celebrate her natal day with her friends and her mother’s friend is normal, even expected.
