Real People Say “Thank you”

thank_youSaying thank you goes well beyond expressing good manners. The simple act of using two words or extending a gesture that shows gratitude lets others see their actions or behaviors mattered. Learning how to say thank you at home, at work and in the community is not difficult and is a practice that can make a difference in the lives of those around you.  A basic verbal “thank you” goes a long way to promoting goodwill in general, whether it’s offered to someone who holds a door open for you or to a co-worker who helps speed along a project on your behalf.

Nowadays, it doesn’t seem like a lot of people write thank  you notes anymore, particularly, the men. They do not see value in these notes.  They believe it is a girl thing.  They say  that whether their appreciation of  a favor done to them  is expressed by sending out a thank you card, a text message or an e-mail and/or  saying  it to them personally  or through a telephone call, it  has helped them to accomplish their  goal. And they recommend this strategy.

Of course, quite often, it takes nothing more than two simple words to make sure gratitude is properly expressed.  It feels so good to  just send a heartfelt thank you note.  It just makes sense to say thank you. Not only does it feel good to thank someone when you feel he/she deserved it so it will make that person feel good.  Having made a more conscious effort to say thank you more often  gets you a lot of respect  especially if you can say it and mean it.

Counselors always remind us to practice good manners and right conduct  everywhere and always. Manners are manners, according to them,  and they will do good for us in our daily living.
