On May 10, 1993 Charmaine Clarice Relucio Pempengco was born to Raquel Relucio in Cabuyao, Laguna. She is better known by her screen name Charice.

Raquel noticed that Charice could sing when at the age of two, she sang ‘Happy Birthday’ very high. Raquel had and still has a musical ear, so taking her musical experience into account, she started teaching and training Charice to sing when she was only four years old.

(Due to copyright claim by Harpo, the YouTube video with Charice in Oprah had been pulled. Below is Charice at the Ellen Degeneres show last December 2007.)

With hard work and perseverance, Charice began singing in local contests when she reached the age of seven. When she was eight years old, she got on a table and sang ‘My Heart Will Go On,’ originally sung by Celine Dion. At that instant, the onlookers realized that she was a natural performer. She became widely known  when she placed third in the first season of Little Big Star.

The Filipino singing sensation Charice Pempengco, well known also as the Filipino child-diva, has been wowing audiences around the world - in the United States, in England and in Korea. She became internationally famous  through the Youtube.

She can sing the songs of Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey and many other great singers.

And just recently, on May 12, 2008, she charmed audiences in the United States and the rest of the world once again, when she performed in the highest rating TV talk show “Oprah.” The most touching moment was when tears began to flow on Charice’s cheeks as she was overwhelmed by emotion because she was able to perform in Oprah’s show.

How amazing she is, just like what Oprah said.  She can perform at her very best every single time which is the mark of an incredible talent and a real professional. Gifted with a powerful singing voice, dancing talent and overall stage presence, Charice is on her way of achieving her highest dreams.

Mabuhay si Charice! Mabuhayang mga taga Laguna! Mabuhay tayong lahat!
