Chrissy Sembrano attended a diversity career day in advertising in Midtown, Manhattan. She wanted to find a job in New York City by opening her doors to other options.  She applied for a job in advertising.

Sembrano was an engineering student. She came to New York City to check the possibility and hopes to put together her interests and use her skills to a field where where she has very little experience.

The career day aims to help New Yorkers in their search for a job.

The  city officials are encouraging businesses to hire people from diverse backgrounds.

Reports said that with the growing unemployment rate, Americans are looking for jobs everywhere and even trying sectors they had not considered before.

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg encourages the importance of having diverse cultures in the market place, citing a positive impact on the work environment.

“I think it’s important to have diversity in the workplace because you can get many different ideas from different people and it’s very good that they have things like this”  Sembrano said.
