Congressman Manny Pacquiao won a unanimous 12-round decision over Mexican Antonio Margarito on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at the Cowboys Stadium in Dallas, Texas. He easily won the vacant WBC super-welterweight crown over his bloodied opponent.
Despite concerns about his training and the significant size differential between him and his opponent, the smaller but quicker Pacquiao dominated the fight from start to finish. The boxing wonder countered off most of Margarito’s plodding charges with flurries of combinations.
Pacquiao’s victory meant that he won eight titles in different weight divisions. That never has happened before and won’t ever be done again.
The fight was not without controversy, however. The weight loss supplement Hydroxycut was discovered in Margarito’s dressing room before the match, but despitr protests from Pacquiao, the fight was allowed o go on.
