Lucila Oblena Celebrates 85th Birthday
DALLAS, May 25, 2009 / FW/ — The birthday party was yesterday, a day early for Lucy Oblena who celebrates her 85th birthday today.
It was an intimate gathering – Celso and Doris Villanueva (nee Cabuhat), Freddie and Jerlene Aranguren (nee Cabuhat), Gerry Reyes, Eva Velasco Kelly, Claire Frando Mania and Mari Oblena Davis in attendance.
At 85, Lucy Oblena remains alert and vibrant. She is perhaps one of the oldest bloggers in the world as she maintains her own blog at the age of 85 (she started when she was 84). She can still travel by air alone and takes her Jack Russell terrier Sara for long walks.
To young people, sending text messages and emails are normal things, but for Lucy, it is an accomplishment. Lucy sent her first email when she was 74 years old and her first text message when she was 80 years old.
Now that she is 85, she continues to do these things without effort and like most young people; she cannot live without her mobile phone! And believe it or not, she has her own laptop, has a gravatar and owns a Flicker account.
Pretty soon, she will start Twitter and Facebook. It is taking her a longer time to learn these things, but she is always up to the challenge.
