Give Some TLC In Time of Crisis
By now, every Filipino in the Philippines and elsewhere in the world, has a distressing tale to relate about the great deluge that swept the country due to Typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng. Those who are in the Philippines, particularly those who were victims of the typhoons have tales of terrible fear and desperation, devastation and despair and never ending hope. Those who were unaffected offered prayers and extended help in whatever way they could.
On the other hand, Filipinos, too, who are away from families immediately sent financial aid to their families. Those who do not have immediate families/relatives to send aid to, joined NGO’s and other charitable institutions who engaged in fund raising and/or gathering clothes, food and other basic necessities to send to the Philippines. It is not amiss to say that once again, the Filipinos worldwide proved their solidarity and united action in a crisis.
And the Cavintinians are not exceptions to this mass action. Worthy of mention is Geline Lazaro of New York City. For more than a couple of weeks, she has assisted in packing relief goods at the Philippine Consulate in New York to be sent to the Philippines for the typhoon victims. She also joined the “Lakad Tulong” a fund raiser organized by the Philippine Consulate, the profits of which will also be for the typhoon victims.
The Cavintinians in Northern California merit recognition, too. With Ningning Ansay Ortiz, as well as Mr. & Mrs. Meliton (Milky) Lubugin, leading a group of Cavintinians, they collected numerous items for the typhoon victims. They packed them in balikbayan boxes to be sent to the Philippines as soon as they are done packing the relief goods.
Long live the Cavintinians!!! Long live the Filipinos!!!

Thank you Ate Lucy Oblena. Being away from home, this is the only thing we can do and share to our kababayans back home ravaged by this kind of catastrophe. I better give rather than suffer that thing..its so pitiful and heartbreaking to see all these shanties along rivers being swayed away by the strong current of water. I can’t helped the tears in my eyes, seeing those people, so helpless and terribly hopeless in that situation . The call of “mother nature”.But with the good Samaritan around, who took their time to open their hearts to help financially.
I am looking fwd. ”PINOY’s” will move on and start a new life.
