On Saturday, May 14, 2011, the funeral of Hon. Dominador L. Cabuhat, took place in Allen, Texas, a city next to Plano where the Cabuhat family lives. Family members, relatives, townmates and friends convened at the Turrentine Jackson Morrow in Ridgewood Memorial Park for the farewell memorial rites.
The motorcade followed the funeral route that ended at the Turrentine Jackson Morrow Cemetery, Ridgeview Memorial Park in nearby
Allen, Texas. Military honor guards were waiting, and then saluted as the hearse arrived and while the flag draped coffin was being carried to the grave by the white gloved pall bearers.
The pall bearers were composed of male Cavintinians from the Dallas-Forth Worth Metroplex and some family friends. The traditional military honors were rendered in recognition of the service of the deceased as a World War II veteran.
The mourners were deeply engrossed at the excellent execution of hand salutes and the careful removal and folding of the US flag by the honor guards.
Then the senior honor guard presented the flag to Mrs. Gina Cabuhat, wife of the late veteran, while the four daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren and other mourners looked on. He said, “On behalf of the President of the United States and a grateful nation, I present this flag as a token of appreciation for the honorable and faithful service rendered by your loved one. God bless you, your family and the United States of America.”
Every onlooker listening to the honor guard was in tears. The widow hugged the folded flag to her chest still in sighs and tears, while a bugler played the Taps. She clutched the flag to her breast, and saying “I love you, I love you, I love you,” while watching her husband’s casket being lowered into the grave, thus ending Hon. Dominador L. Cabuhat’s final journey on this earth.
