Filipino Teen is Sudoku Asia Pacific Champ Again

Philippine Flag

Sarah Jane Cua, 16,  a soft-spoken fourth year student from Pangasinan Universal Institute in Dagupan City, won the top prize this year  in the Asia Pacific Soduko Challenge held in Singapore. This is her second time to be a champion in the region. Her first win was in 2008 when she participated in the Soduku Challenge held also in Singapore.

Sarah  received several prizes: a cash prize of 10,000 Singapore dollars (about P332,643), a glass trophy, a certificate of merit and a basket of goodies from Brand’s health supplement.

Coming in at second and third places are Malaysia and Singapore, respectively. Another Filipino participant, Timothy James Tan of Trinity Christian School in Bacolod City, placed as one of the top 15 in the semi-finals

The contestants, fifty in all,  were professionals and students from Singapore, China, Thailand, Indonesia, India and Malaysia.  And Sarah Jane was the best of  them all.  “Napakasaya ko po,” she said.  How happy Sarah was!

Again, the maxim ‘Love is lovelier the second time around’ has been proven.
