Filipina Student Wins International Sudoku Contest

Sarah Jane Cua, a sophomore student at the Pangasinan Universal Institute bested 150 players in an international sudoku competition in Singapore, July 11-13, 2008.

In an interview with GMA News, Sarah said she surpassed her competitors not only with her mathemetical competence, but also with her speed.

Sudoku is a logical puzzle played by filling in the game board so that the numbers 1 through 9 occurs only once in each row, column and 3×3 box.

The champion walked away with a $10,000 prize  in addition to a trophy and a certificate.
