Consuelo Grifal Mesina, A Nonagenarian
Consuelo Grifal Mesina who turns 93 years old in June, 2008, lives in Pleasanton, California. She was married to the late Eustaquio V. Mesina. Her late husband was among the early immigrants from Cavinti to the United States having migrated to the aforementioned country in 1930.
They have been married a few years before the outbreak of World War II in the Pacific when he returned to Cavinti to seek a life partner.
Eustaquio was conscripted by the United States Armed Forces in the Far East (USAFFE) when World War II in the Pacific broke out. He survived the Battle of Bataan, the Death Marcch and the Capas Concentration Camp. He joind the guerilla movement , was tortured by the Japanese upon learning of his whereabouts, but again his life was spared by the torturers. What a blessing for the Mesina family.
The couple had six children: Jose and Elisa who live in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, Erlinda in New Jersey and Emma, Fernando and Eleanor in San Diego, West Hill and Pleasanton respectively, all in California.
Consuelo has mobility problems so that she uses a walker. But she is still in good health and is enjoying all the blessings that God has given her and for which she is very thankful.
Her philosophy in life is:The Golden Rule: Do unto others what you would like others do unto you.
