What an inspirational sentiments and very timely for Mother’s Day. I share your thoughts on this day Mari. While Mrs. Oblena didn’t nurture me from day one, I was one of those lucky enough to have been mentored by her in Grade 6. Even my late eldest sister, Ate Choleng, used to remind me then that yes, Lucy, as she used to call your Mom, was “a very smart and intelligent woman.” And I proved it when I attended her class. Erudite, strict yet undrstanding and compassionate, that’s what I saw in Mrs. Oblena. HappyMother’s Day to you Mrs. Oblena and to all mothers of the world. To all Mothers, we owe the world!

i totally agree. i was selling pandesal and ice drop when i was a kid.you must be determined in life to get what you want and with little luck you may get what you want. but that is life and when you are poor help is very hard to find. are we not lucky we were able to be where we are right now.
