Cavinti Municipal Government Supports CNHS Drum & Lyre Ensemble

Donacel A. Socorro
3rd Year, Cavinti Nat’l High School

cavinti_nhs_band01Parade with galore! The local government unit headed by Hon. Florcelie L. Esguerra and Sangguniang Bayan formally turned over the Drum and Lyre Set to Cavinti National High School last June 2, 2009.
The set of equipments such as 3 bass drums, 24 lyres,18 batoons, 6 sneere drums, and 3 cymbals worth P70,000.00 was financed by the Municipal fund.

Ms. Norma I. Tablico initially thought of soliciting funds through MAPEH Club carolling project. Instead of giving a donation, municipal office, through Mayor Esguerra, shouldered all the expenses for the said equipments. She believed that the Drum and Lyre group will be very functional during special occasions and programs in Cavinti.

cavinti_nhs_band02Mr. David E. Titan organized selected students from First Year to Third Year to perform Drum and Lyre. This group had performed during town’s affairs and school activities.

Ms. May L. Cabantog is the teacher coordinator since the group is part of MAPEH.

Some expenses such as uniform, allowances and miscellaneous are taken from MOOE fund of the school though not sufficient enough because of other expenses of the school.
