Saturday, August 7th, it was a dual celebration among the Cavintinians in the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) Metroplex. Observing the feast of the Transfiguration, whom we fondly call San Salvador, the group also feted Gina Cabuhat who was celebrating her 84th birthday.
With only 9 families from Cavinti living in DFW, it was a small gathering filled with big Texas fun! Held at the residence of Doris & Celso Villanueva, there was singing, dancing and of course the proverbial breaking of the bread as everyone shared a meal together following the fiesta tradition.
Another tradition – we also had “mamimiyesta”. Aida Villamin Marcelo who lives in the Atlanta (Georgia) area and Danny and Baby (nee Villamin) Mascarenas from Sydney, Australia joined the Big D Cavintinians for the festivities.
