Cavinti Facebook
On April 5, 2009, TIPAKAN.COM will celebrate its first anniversary. Still on its baby steps to becoming a full-pledged online community, it has also proven to be very successful in bringing news and updates to all our mga kababayan all over the world.
To commemorate its first anniversary, we are introducing a FACEBOOK-like interface so that we can begin a Cavinti Directory. For those who are into social networking, FACEBOOK does not need an introduction.
To those who are new to Facebook, it is a free-access social networking website and survives via advertising. Users can join networks organized by city, workplace, school, and region to connect and interact with other people. People can also add friends and send them messages, and update their personal profiles to notify friends about themselves. The website’s name refers to the paper facebooks depicting members of a campus community that some US colleges and preparatory schools give to incoming students, faculty, and staff as a way to get to know other people on campus.
For the proposed Cavinti Facebook, it will be on a much smaller scale. It will just be a directory style area wherein our mga kababayan can sign in and ‘build their own page.’ For privacy reasons, it will be a secure area, which means you have to log in to see it.
It will be a free service and the only requirement for membership will be that in some way or another, you have Cavinti roots, i.e. somewhere in your family tree, there is a Cavintinian.
It will take time and effort to create this interface at tipakan.com. So, before we proceed, we would like to ask your opinion if you would support this endeavor so that we will have an online directory of Cavinti diasporas from all over the world.
I have included a form you could fill out to tell us your opinion. Anything you write will be treated with confidence.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
