Cavinti Celebrates Annual Town Fiesta

cavinti_churchCavinti today is celebrating the annual fiesta in honor of our Patron Saint El Salvador del Mundo. Considered the zenith of the year,  every Cavintinian lives it up and  lets go all his pent-up emotions. In spite of the prevailing economic crisis, yet money never enters the equation when the celebration of the town fiesta comes up. The entire communityy goes all out in celebrating the occasion with a profusion of revelry and pageantry.

Adding color to this year’s fiesta celebration is the Komedyang Cavinti. a coloful theatrical tradition whose plot generally revolves around the social, political and religious conflicts of the Muslims and the Christian heroes. It is dramatized in colorful, romantic and stylized  acting. The participants are in exotic costumes. Hence, a celebration of tradition, culture and performativity.

The Komedyang Cavinti is also referred to as Moro-moro.
