The fiesta is an enduring tradition passed on by the Spaniards during their more than 300 years of colonial rule in the Philippines. Despite the end of the Spanish regime in the late 19th century, the fiesta celebration has remained imbibed in the core of Filipino traditions. And to this, the Cavintinians are not an exception.
Originally observed by the inhabitants of a town or a barangay in order to honor a saint, the fiesta, since then, evolved into a joyous occasion celebrated by the Filipinos, by the Cavintinians in particular in this write up, to commemorate the feast day of their Patron Saint, El Salvador del Mundo. The Cavintinians, faithful to their religious beliefs, and in wherever corner of the globe they may be, pay homage to their Patron Saint through the fiesta celebration annually. Hence, it’s fiesta time on July 31-August 3, 2010 for those in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) in Canada under the auspices of the GTA Fiesta Organizing Committee chaired by Mr. Adan Vita. Please refer to the details hereunder about the celebration.
