Dr. Carmelita Valente Garduque, Carmeling, as she is known to her friends and town mates in Cavinti, daughter of Francisca Villamin Valente and the late Florencio Valente of Rizal Street, Cavinti, Laguna, has been undergoing her chemo sessions for three years.  She received her immigrant visa last May 29, 2008. Her son Cesar, Jr. who is based in Hackensack, New Jersey bought a plane ticket for her so that she can join her children here in the United States. Unknowingly, the Almighty had a different plan for her. She was admitted to the hospital sometime in June and she joined her Maker on June 29, 2008. She was interred on July 5, 2008 in Binan, Laguna.

Carmeling is survived by her mother Kikay Valente; her children Christine, Claire, Christopher, Cesar, Jr. and Carlo Emmanuel; her grand children Paige Marie, Carmela Marie, Jana Eizabeth, Kenneth, Crisela Mae, and Cristina Kassandra; her brothers Maning and Abet Valente, sister Ineng Valente; her daughters-in-law Lala and Eloisa; her sons-in-law John and Rommel; her sisters-in-law Marlyn and Melanie; her neices Sarah Shiela, Rina and Maria Isabel and nephews Allan and Matt.

May her soul rest in peace.
