Another Title for Pacquiao

Manny Pacquiao made history on Saturday, June 28, 2008 when he knocked out David Diaz in a boxing bout at the Mandalay Bay Resort Events Center in Las Vegas.  Pacquiao sent a beaten-up Diaz  down the canvas during the ninth round, thus winning the WBC lightweight title.  Hence, Manny’s date with history  due to that significant event was unquestioned because he outmatched a slower Diaz during the fight. He was the first Asian to win four titles in four different divisions, to wit:

  • WBC lightweight title
  • WBC super featherweight
  • Flyweight belt
  • IBC super bantamweight

Manny Pacquiao  has been dubbed “The Mexi-cutioner” for his successive victories against Mexican fighters in  his last fights.
