It was during Fall, on September 5, 2009 when Allyn Ace Agustin and Nina Ria Borja, daughter of Ningning Ansay Ortiz said their “I do’s” at the Cathedral Basilica St. Joseph in San Jose, California.
It was a traditional Filipino wedding – ninongs and ninangs, maid of honor and best man, the groomsmen and the bridesmaids, candle sponsors, veil sponsors and cord sponsors, the ring bearer and the flower girl.
Yet, it was also modern, with the bride and groom doing all the planning and making the big decisions together, the way it will be once they are married.
As Allyn Ace & Nina Ria wrote in the one and only issue of their “Red Roses Newsletter” that was circulated a few weeks before the wedding, “We are both excited to share the happiest day of our lives with you,” which pretty much defined what a wedding day is to all couples.
It is always beautiful, the exchanging of the marriage vows and the traditions that we always tend to follow, no matter how “modern” we feel we are.

Having been out of contact with many of our kababayans, it’s nice to know this newly wed couple. But I know Alyn Ace Lolo and La Nading. Congratulations and may you live happily.
