A Filipino Nurse Honored In Saudi Arabia

Florie Yuzon, a 58-year-old Filipino nurse from Occidental Mindoro received an award for spending 20 years of her life serving in a hospital in Al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia. She is the first Filipino  nurse to be employed at the aforementioned  hospital in Al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia.

Florie received her award from the hospital’s chairman Samir Al-Takafi. She and another nurse received the awards during the annual nursing day celebration. She was the first Filipino nurse to receive such an award from the hospital.

“Labis akong natuwa sa pagtanggap ko sa araw na ito ng aking award mula sa aming chairman,  Mr. Samir Takafi. Masaya ako sa trabaho ko kahit konti lang ang sweldo,” said Yuzon.

“She’s very smart, very active and sometimes she works with me. I like her so much. I really wish her a very successful and happy life,” said Dr. Shirin Pervin Khan, the hospital’s consultant pediatrician.

Nursing director Mary Jane Tupas described Yuzon as a friendly and dedicated nurse. “She gets along with her other colleagues,” said Tupas.

Other Filipino nurses who served the hospital for more than five and 10 years also received awards

Yuzon is among the more than 60 Filipino nurses working at the Mohammed Al-Dossary Hospital who earned the respect of their superior.
